Easy Money-Saving Ideas

In today’s painful economy, every penny counts, that means not only is it important to have as much money coming in as possible, but it’s also important to cut corners where you can. Here are some easy ways that you can save money, you can often save a lot more than you might think if you just take a little time.

First, take advantage of coupons; this is easier than ever before, thanks to the Internet.  Not only are there dozens of coupons in the newspaper each week, but a simple Google search for “coupons” will land many more than you can use at many well known retailers.

One word of caution regarding coupons, only use them for items which you were going to buy anyway.  You’ve really not saved any money if you use a coupon as an incentive to buy something you don’t need and had no intention of buying in the first place.

Related to this is the suggestion that you make proper use of sales. A sale only truly saves you money if the item you purchase is something you would likely have been buying soon anyway.  If you fall prey to the temptation to buy simply because it’s on sale then the sale has actually cost you money rather than saving you some cash.

Speaking of the Internet, cash-back sites are another way for you to save money.  These are simply sites which give you a rebate that can range between one and 25 percent of the purchase price, to find several of these, Google “cashback sites.”

Normally with cashback sites you earn the rebate by going to sites that they point you to for your shopping needs. You can really rack up savings if you find cashback sites that offer rebates for stores that also accept voucher codes, which is our third way of saving money.

Voucher codes are basically online coupons, a quick search in Google for  vouchercodes will direct you to many stores which offer merchandise for a discount with the appropriate code.

When you go to the site, you order the merchandise attached to the code. At the checkout, it will ask for your code, and you enter it, to get the relevant discount. This is a great way to get bargains not available to anyone but those with the voucher codes.

Something else to keep in mind: many voucher sites also feature a special section for freebies, which, as the word implies, are items you can order for free. Usually there are limits on the quantities, though, so you have to reply quickly to these.

And finally, you can save money by using a utility switch service. The idea with a utility switch service is that they assist you in comparing the costs and services among various broadband, mobile phone, electricity and gas suppliers. The ultimate goal is to help you find the one that will save you the most money.

These simple suggestions don’t require any special expertise, but are things that anybody can practice to put more money in his or her pocket during this recession.
